If you are facing an unplanned pregnancy, know that you have options. Adoption is one of them. The staff at Golden Cradle is here to help.
What is Adoption?
Many people know that adoption is placing your child in a safe and loving home with a family that can provide for your baby. However, do you know what adoption can mean to you? Adoption can give you peace of mind knowing that your child will experience a safe and loving home and that you have placed your child’s needs above all else. Adoption can also give you the opportunity to move on with your life goals.
There are many choices that are yours to make when considering adoption. You have the ability to choose a family for your child. Golden Cradle can offer you parent profiles that introduce you to approved families that are waiting to welcome a child into their family. If you desire, you can also choose the level of communication you want with the adoptive family as you go through your pregnancy and the adoption process. You may also choose the level of openness that you would prefer after adoption. Openness refers to the agreement between you, the birth parent(s), and the adoptive parents in regards to how frequently you will see the child, whether or not you want to receive pictures and letters, and the overall type of contact and relationship you want to have with the family.
About Considering Adoption
If you are having a difficult time deciding whether or not adoption is the best choice for you and your baby, ask yourself these questions:
- Besides love, can I give the child everything else that he or she needs?
- Would I have to rely on my parents, other family members or even the State to help?
- Can I raise a child and still meet my own needs: to my family, to finish school, to pursue a career, or to raise my other children?
You may find that some people disagree with a decision to place a child for adoption and that can hurtful to you. It takes strength and courage to do what you believe is right. Adoption may be the most loving decision you can choose for your baby.
The staff at Golden Cradle will be there to help you with all the decisions of adoption and help you make the best choices for your baby. There is no obligation to meet with an adoption specialist regardless of your final decision.
